Forbes: Big Ten Tournament Tickets Preview
March 11, 2014
Next, we take a look at Big Ten tournament tickets and the tournament's move from Chicago to Indianapolis. Prices have suffered with the move, dropping 55% since last year. Here's some of the article:
Conference basketball tournaments are the beginning of one of the best months in sports, and certainly the best month for college basketball fans. During conference championship week, every team that takes the court has an opportunity to secure an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. For fans who don’t have the money for NCAA Tournament tickets, conference championships are a great way to see meaningful post-season college basketball at a reasonable price. That’s even more so the case in 2014, with two major conference tournaments down in price from 2013. Big Ten tournament tickets are 55% lower than last year due in large part to the fact that the tournament is being played in Indianapolis instead of Chicago. Unlike the Big 12 Tournament and ACC Tournament that play in the same location most years, the Big Ten alternates between Chicago and Indianapolis. This year, the games played in Indianapolis are 55% cheaper on the secondary market than they were last year. While primary market demand is as good this year as any year, the average price being paid on the secondary market is significantly lower.
