Metallica release new single, US tour to follow?
March 20, 2014
While on tour in South America, Metallica unveiled a new track entitled “Lords Of Summer”. The 8 minute epic exploded throughout social media as it's slow opening and galloping riffs harken back to the group's thrash roots in the 80's.
In response to the traffic, Metallica recorded a “Garage Demo” version of the song and released it themselves. It's the group's first new recording since 2012. The song is expected to be one of the top vote getters as the band continues it's “Metallica By Request” tour, which features fans voting on each night's set list. Metallica will also be performing two benefit concerts in California this spring, organized by Ozzy Osbourne and Sammy Hagar respectively.
While the “Metallica By Request” tour currently isn't scheduled to come to America, the press behind “Lords Of Summer” may spark the group into adding some. There is always strong demand for Metallica tickets, especially with them being a rare sight outside of festival dates the past few year. The band notably performed during the Mariano River tribute towards the end of the 2013 Yankees season, and even San Francisco Giants tickets have seen a 2% increase since the announcement of a second (and likely to become annual) “Metallica Night” on May 16th.
