Pelicans Home for 14 of Final 21 Games This Season

March 5, 2014

At one point in the season the New Orleans Pelicans looked capable of contending for one of the final playoff spots in the Western Conference. That vision appeared extremely doubtful as the Pelicans dropped eight in a row for the second time in the past two months recently, but they finally got back into the win column last night against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Their first eight game swoon was back in the beginning of January when the Pelicans were just one game under .500.  Since then, they’ve dropped considerably and now sit 12.5 games out of the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference playoff picture. Ironically enough, if New Orleans were still in the Eastern Conference, they would be just two games behind in the loss column for the eighth seed.

Anthony-Davis

New Orleans has done a good job of assembling talent in order to build the foundation for the future between Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday, Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson who have been the backbone of this developing team. In Davis, the Pelicans have one of the premier young big men in the league who can score, rebound and handle the ball (to an extent) as he is averaging a double-double this season.  Davis was named to his first All-Star Game this year, getting the opportunity to play in front of his hometown fans in New Orleans. If he can continue to take the next step forward, then the Pelicans have found the face (or eyebrow) of their franchise.

If you’re looking to attend a game, the Pelicans have 21 games left in the regular season, of which 14 are at home, but New Orleans has struggled to create a home court advantage this season, losing more games than they’ve won. Pelicans tickets have an average price of $57 per ticket for their remaining home games, but their matchup with the Miami Heat on March 22nd is a much higher premium. This game is averaging $247 per ticket with the get-in alone being more than any other game left this season at $83. Even though this game is much more than New Orleans’ home average, there are still plenty of games left that you won’t need to break the bank to go to, namely the March 9th game against the Denver Nuggets which is averaging a menial $28 and an extremely low get-in of just $2. The future of this franchise is headed in the right direction so be sure to get your Pelicans tickets and be able to witness them become a force in the Western Conference firsthand.
