Top 5 Broadway Tickets Of The Week (3/17)

March 17, 2014

Broadway shows are the pinnacle of New York City entertainment. Every day thousands of people come into Manhattan with the sole purpose of seeing one of the many shows available, usually eight times per week for most shows. The most expensive performance of each show can vary per week, not always falling on the weekends like many would assume. This week that holds true with the top shows not just on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The average price for all of these top Broadway tickets aren’t below $300.

1) 3/18/14 - Book of Mormon | Avg. Price $414 | Get-in Price $200

Tuesday night, Book of Mormon tickets see their highest price of the week. Tuesday’s get-in price is the only one of a Broadway show this week to approach $200. With a very limited number of tickets still available for the show, the average price for this performance has increased 23% over the past week.

2) 3/22/14 - Motown the Musical | Avg. Price $401 | Get-in Price $140

Motown continues to be one of the most popular musicals and Saturday’s show is the most expensive of the week. Motown tickets have the only other performance with an average price above $400, even as the price has only increased 3% this week. The $140 get-in price is just the third most expensive of the highest priced shows of the week.

3) 3/19/14 - Kinky Boots | Avg. Price $370 | Get-in Price $117

Kinky Boots tickets routinely find themselves in the list of most expensive Broadway shows. This week, Wednesday night is the highest average priced show of the week. Performances for the rest of the week still have high averages, but none top the $370 price for Wednesday.

4) 3/22/14 - Cinderella | Avg. Price $330 | Get-in Price $79

Carly Rae Jepsen and Fran Drescher continue to boost the price of Cinderella tickets with their limited engagement as the stars of the show. The get-in price of $79 is easily the least expensive of any of the top Broadway shows even as the average price has increased 87% during the week.

5) 3/22/14 - Wicked | Avg. Price $321 | Get-in Price $153

Even with the fifth highest average price of the week, Wicked tickets on Saturday have the second highest get-in price of the week. The $153 low price trails just Book of Mormon’s $200 low price, though Wicked’s price for Saturday has risen 4% over the past week.

Luckily for Broadway fans, these performances happen multiples times per week and getting a relatively good deal on Broadway tickets can be easier for those with flexible times to attend the shows. Still, getting in before the spring weather is here could result in the best deals on the secondary market. Either way, these shows are always well worth the price of admission.
