Tom Petty Tickets Available For Newly Announced 2014 Tour Dates
May 20, 2014
38 years after they started, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are still runnin’ down a dream. The band has announced a new 30-date North American tour in support of their newest and thirteenth studio album, Hypnotic Eye, scheduled for release July 29 on Reprise Records. Tom Petty tickets go on sale May 31.
The 11-track album is being billed as a return to form from the band’s early days, with the 63-year-old Petty describing the album as a “straight hard-rockin’ record, from start to finish” in the spirit of 1976’s Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and 1978’s You’re Gonna Get It. Formed in 1976 in Gainesville, Florida, Hypnotic Eye is the band’s first release since 2010’s Mojo. It will also be available in a variety of formats, from CD and double vinyl to digital and high-resolution Blu-ray. In addition, anyone who buys Tom Petty tickets to a live show will also receive a copy of the album. Preorders of the album are available June 3 and will include an instant download of the first track.
Accompanied by Steve Winwood, the band’s 30-date North American tour kicks off August 3 at San Diego’s Viejas Arena and concludes October 10 at The Forum in Los Angeles. In addition to high profile gigs at Boston’s Fenway Park and New York’s Madison Square Garden, the tour also features several smaller market performances in U.S. cities like Boise, Idaho and Eugene, Oregon as well as Canadian cities such as Winnipeg, Manitoba and Edmonton, Alberta. The tour also includes festival stops at Outside Lands Music Fest in San Francisco and Lockn’ Festival in Arrington, Virginia, for which tickets are currently available.
