This Week In World Cup 2014 Tickets (6/16)
June 16, 2014
The World Cup is currently in full swing. Arguably the greatest international athletic competition happens just once every four years, but the Group Stage is already underway. Prices have already started dropping for World Cup 2014 tickets, but that doesn’t mean they will come cheap. The most expensive game of the week is averaging over $1,000 and the even the cheapest on the list is well over $600.
6/19 Uruguay vs. England | Avg. Price: $1,392.33 | Get-in Price: $912
England is a perennial disappointment in these competitions, and started group play with a 2-1 loss to a talented Italy team. If they want to advance to the knockout round, they are going to need a better performance against a Uruguay team that was upset by Costa Rica in their first match. England tickets are easily the highest on this list in both average price at $1,392.33 and a get-in price of $912.
6/17 Brazil vs. Mexico | Avg. Price: $1,106.21 | Get-in Price: $323
Host nation Brazil opened things up with a 3-1 win over Croatia. The next day Mexico pulled out the 1-0 win over Cameroon, scoring just past the hour after the refs waved off a couple goals. The win makes Mexico Brazil’s stiffest competition in the group, but Brazil is still heavily favored. Mexico tickets are averaging $1,106.21 for the game with a get-in price of $323.
6/18 Spain vs. Chile | $1,077.80 | Get-in Price: $756
Spain was involved in arguably the biggest upset of the weekend. Holding the top international FIFA ranking, Spain surprisingly lost 5-1 to the Netherlands. Now there is a strong chance Spain won’t even make it to the knockout round. Chile is no pushover for Spain, and beat Australia in their first game. Chile tickets are averaging $1,077.80 for the game, and have the second highest get-in price at $756.
6/22 Belgium vs. Russia | Avg. Price: $725.31 | Get-in Price: $376
Belgium is a heavy favorite in a relatively lackluster Group H. Russia is their main competition and the two nations face each other in the first match of the group. The winner is a likely shoe-in for the knockout round. Russia tickets are the first on the list to average under $1,000 at $725.31, and the get-in price is $376.
6/21 Argentina vs. Iran | Avg. Price: $639.50 | Get-in Price: $364
The Lionel Messi-led Argentina national team is one of the best teams in the tournament. They’re easily the best team in their group, and are big favorites over Iran. They’ve already beaten Bosnia, making it a huge shock if they don’t emerge as the top team in the group. Iran has yet to play a game in the World Cup. Iran tickets are averaging $639.50 for the game with a get-in price of $364.
