Top 5 Broadway Tickets Of The Week (7/14)
July 14, 2014
Broadway’s top five shows are almost identical to last weeks’. There is one notable omission, though, and that’s Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The Tony Award winning musical has been a mainstay at the top of the list since it officially opened earlier this year. But the new show was replaced on the list by an old classic, Wicked. The popular show hasn’t made the list in weeks, but lands at number three this week.
7/16 Kinky Boots | Avg. Price: $448.96 | Get-in Price: $151
The top show on the list is also the only one to see prices drop as the week progressed. Kinky Boots tickets have dropped seven percent over the week and are now averaging $448.96. While the show has been a regular on the list, the top spot is not its usually billing. It also has a $151 get-in price.
7/18 Motown | Avg. Price: $430.07 | Get-in Price: $102
Motown tickets have increased by 20 percent over the course of the week. But while the average price of $430.07 is the second highest on the list, the get-in price of $102 is the lowest. Motown, like Kinky Boots, has been on the list almost every week this year and is the last show this week to average over $400.
7/16 Wicked | Avg. Price: $358.88 | Get-in Price: $144
The triumphant return of Wicked comes on the heels of a 15 percent price increase over the week. Wicked tickets are averaging $358.88 and have a get-in price of $144.
7/17 Lion King | Avg. Price: $349.13 | Get-in Price: $139
The Lion King looks like it’s here to stay. A few weeks ago the show saw a surge in sales that landed it on this list, and it hasn’t been off it since. The Lion King tickets have increased by four percent for an average of $349.13 and have a get-in price of $139.
7/18 Book of Mormon | Avg. Price: $328.35 | Get-in Price: $246
While Book of Mormon is in the bottom spot on the list, it’s had the largest increase in price over the week. Book of Mormon tickets have increased 26 percent for an average price of $328.35. The get-in price is also the highest on the list, by far, at $246. That’s almost $100 more than the next most expensive get-in price.
