Nas To Promote New Documentary With Time Is Illmatic Tour

August 13, 2014

Continuing to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his landmark debut album, one of hip-hop’s most influential rappers will hit the road again this fall after releasing Nas tickets for a tour supporting his new behind-the-scenes documentary.

The 40-year-old, who reissued a deluxe edition of his seminal 1994 LP, Illmatic, earlier this year before embarking on a world tour, will headline 14 shows across North America, the majority of which will also feature a screening of Nas: Time Is Illmatic.

Directed by filmmaker One9 and written by Vibe Magazine’s Music Editor Erik Parker, the film “traces Nas’ influences and the insurmountable odds he faced in creating the greatest work of music from hip-hop’s second golden era,” and will open theatrically via Tribeca Film in New York on October 1, the day before Nas kicks off his latest trek at Rochester’s Main Street Armony.

The twelve-time Grammy nominee will then visit the likes of Glenside’s Keswick Theatre on Oct 5, Detroit’s The Fillmore on Oct 9 and Seattle’s Moore Theatre on Oct 15 before wrapping up at Oakland’s Fox Theater on Oct 19.

Fans with Nas tickets for this multi-media event can also look forward to hearing Nas perform the entirety of Illmatic, which reached No.12 on the Billboard 200 and eventually sold over a million copies, including the singles “It Ain’t Hard To Tell,” “The World Is Yours” and “One Love.”

Nas tickets are expected to go on sale later this week, but in the meantime, fans can get their hands on tickets for his set at Boston Calling on September 7 with two-day passes on offer on TicketIQ at a get-in price of $99.
