The Valero Alamo Bowl, which will be played on January 2nd at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, will pit the UCLA Bruins (9-3), who ranked 15th in the last AP Poll, against the Kansas State Wildcats (9-3), who ranked 14th in the last AP Poll.

UCLA won five of its last six games, but was blown out by the Stanford Cardinal at home in its last game, 31-10. Dual-threat quarterback Brett Hundley was stymied by Stanford’s ferocious defense. Hundley completed just 17-of-32 pass attempts for 146 yards and was completely shut down as a runner. This performance was very uncharacteristic for Hundley who completed 70 percent of his pass attempts and rushed for 541 yards and seven touchdowns. Running back Paul Perkins rushed for 116 yards against Stanford and has compiled nearly 1,600 total yards over 12 games. As a team, UCLA is averaging 199 rushing yards per game, but may have issues running against Kansas State’s stout front seven.
The average ticket price for UCLA vs. Kansas State is currently $83.41 on the secondary market while the get-in price for the game is $10. That makes it the least expensive Alamo Bowl game on the secondary market since 2011.

All three of Kansas State’s losses came against teams that were ranked in the Top 6 of the AP Poll. Kansas State lost road games at TCU and Baylor while dropping a hard fought home game to Auburn. Kansas State won all of its games it was favored in which is a testament to strong defensive play and dual-threat quarterback, Jake Waters. Waters completed 66 percent of his passes during the regular season and rushed for 471 yards and eight touchdowns. Running back Charles Jones rushed for 13 touchdowns.
While fans can expect to pay top prices to attend the Alamo Bowl, a matchup between Hundley and Kansas State’s stout run defense will be entertaining. In addition, UCLA will need to figure out a way to slow down Waters and Jones. This is the first matchup between Top 15 teams in Alamo Bowl history, so expect an exciting atmosphere.
