Sharks & Flyers Highlight Kings Top Tickets In December
December 5, 2014
The 2014-15 Los Angeles Kings are better team than their 14-7-5 record. What those five OT losses indicate, however, is that the Kings are losing mostly close games. In November alone, the team lost five games by one goal. Overall, the Kings have given up the fifth fewest goals in the league -- an impressive stat. If you’re Darryl Sutter, you have to be impressed with that metric. You also, however, have to be somewhat disappointed with the conclusions drawn from it, like that the Kings are a team that plays well enough to win hockey games but manages to lose them.
The Kings get pucks on net (they’re 12th in the league in shots on goal), but they’re not scoring on many of them, which is one of the reasons the team is faltering during crunch time. The Kings are dead last in the league in shooting percentage. Jeff Carter, who scored 27 goals for the Kings last season, has just one point in his last six games.
Here are the Kings’ three most expensive home games in December. The team’s home ticket average for the month is $114.53 on the secondary market.
12/27 vs San Jose Sharks | Average Price: $175.40 | Get-in: $59
The Kings’ most expensive home game at the Staples Center comes against their in-state rival, the San Jose Sharks. The average price for a ticket on the secondary market to the Sharks-Kings is $175.40. Those seat prices will be 53% above the Kings’ December home average. The minimum you can pay to get into the 12/27 matchup is $59.
12/06 vs Philadelphia Flyers | Average Price: $112.31 | Get-in: $32
Not so long ago the Philadelphia Flyers and Kings swapped Wayne Simmonds for Mike Richards, among others. That trade worked out pretty well for the Flyers (Richards’ offensive production has declined each of the past four seasons). The average price of a seat at this game is $112.31 on the secondary market. That rate is close to the Kings’ December average at the Staples Center. Get-in prices are just $32.
12/22 vs Calgary Flames | Average Price: $103.11 | Get-in: $26
The ascendent Flames are no joke. They’re giving teams fits in the West with their young and energetic talent. Tickets on the secondary market to the Flames-Kings are a steal at $103.11, which is about about $10 less than the Kings’ December average. The minimum you can pay to get into the game is $26.
