This week’s top indie/alternative shows features the talents of folk hero Iron & Wine at Mississippi Studios and The Head and The Heart at the Calvin Theatre on the 7th. On December 4th Johnny Marr of The Smiths fame will play solo at The Republik in Hawaii. The 1975 come to New York City on the 5th with a show at Terminal 5. Rise Against will play the Chicago House of Blues in their hometown on the 1st.

Samuel Beam, the folk singer who goes by the moniker Iron & Wine will be at Mississippi Studios in Portland, Oregon this week on the 7th. The singer last released his fifth album Ghost on Ghost last year. Fans should note that there is a different show booked at the venue earlier in the evening with the Iron & Wine show starting at 10pm. The singer will also play on the 6th at the Showbox in Seattle, Washington.

Rise Against will play their hometown of Chicago, Illinois on the 1st at the House of Blues. The show has an average ticket price of $389.76 but fans can get in for as low as $68. They released their new album The Black Market over the summer to much acclaim. The band will also be playing with UK’s Royal Blood who released their debut self-titled album back in August.
12/5 The 1975 at Terminal 5 - Avg. Price $300.66 Get-In: $79
The garage rock band from the UK The 1975 will be stateside on the night of the 5th this week with a show at Terminal 5 in New York City. They released their debut self-titled album last year to much fanfare and have toured extensively and played major festivals ever since. This NYC show has an average ticket price of $300.66 but fans can get into the show for as low as $79.
12/7 The Head and The Heart at the Calvin Theatre - Limited tickets available.
Indie Folk outfit The Head and The Heart will play the Calvin Theatre in Northampton, Massachusetts this week on the 7th. The band who last released their sophomore album Let’s Be Still last year. The Head and The Heart along with folk band PHOX will play more of New England this week with a show at the Boston House of Blues on the 3rd and The State Theatre in Portland, Maine on the 6th.
12/4 Johnny Marr at the Republik - Limited tickets available
Johnny Marr the former guitarist of The Smiths and The The released his second solo album back in October entitled Playland. Marr will be playing at the Republik in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. There will be other Canadian appearances all week with a show at the Starlite in Edmonton, Alberta on the 3rd, the Sugar Nightclub in Victoria, British Columbia on the 6th, and the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, British Columbia on the 7th. Marr will then head stateside starting next week.
