Billy Joel set a record over the weekend for most consecutive sellout shows at Madison Square Garden with 13. A “13” was raised into the rafters at The Garden to commemorate the accomplishment, but the singer’s run is not close to being finished. Since last January, Joel has played one show per month at The Garden and a year later, the demand is still high for each show. Here is a breakdown by the numbers of Joel’s run at The World’s Most Famous Arena.

  • $503.12: The secondary market average price across the 13 shows Joel has played since January of 2014 is $503.12. Only four of the shows have been below that average price.
  • 102%: The average price for the February 2014 concert was $290.71, while the average price the following month in March was $587.71. The 102% increase was the biggest month-to-month jump for any two shows during the run.
  • $773.96: On May 9, Joel played his most expensive show to date at the Garden with an average price of $773.96.
  • 18,200: Madison Square Garden’s concert capacity is listed at 18,200.
  • 236,600: The number of tickets that would have been sold through 13 sold out concerts.
  • $310.61: Joel has shows scheduled at Madison Square Garden through October of 2015. The average price for the next nine concerts have an average price of $310.61.
  • 64: Elton John currently holds the record for most concerts played at The Garden with 64 total shows.
  • 6/21: Joel’s June show, scheduled for the 21st, would be his 64th concert at Madison Square Garden, tying Elton John’s record. The current average price for the date is $636 with a get-in price of $163.
  • 7/2: The July concert would be Joel’s 65th at the venue, making him the sole record-holder for most concerts played at MSG. The current average price is $543.95 with a get-in price of $142.

Joel has stated he would like to continue his residency as long as there is demand for it. With how ticket prices have been going since last January, the demand does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
