Rangers vs Islanders Tickets For Tuesday Are Most Expensive Of Season For Both Teams

January 12, 2015

NHL: New York Islanders at New York Rangers

The New York area rivalry has recently shifted towards the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils, and the New York Islanders had been out of the picture with subpar play and under .500 records. This season, however, the Islanders have been one of the hottest teams in the NHL all season long and currently lead the Metropolitan Division with 57 points. The Islanders will head into Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night to play the Rangers in one of the most expensive games of the season.

Currently, the average price for Islanders vs Rangers tickets is $544.98 on the secondary market. That’s the most expensive home Rangers game of the season and the most expensive Islanders road game over the past five years. The get-in price for the game — currently $144 — is nearly double the get-in price of the previous game played between these two at The Garden on October 14.

These two teams will have played two games at Madison Square Garden before the first game between them is played at Nassau Coliseum this season. There are still three games remaining between these teams at Nassau Coliseum, one each in January, February and March. The first game will come on January with an average price of $223.72 and a get-in price of $74. The most expensive of the three will come on March 10 with an average price of $237.09 and a get-in price of $59.

Heading into the game, the Rangers sit five points behind the Islanders in the Metropolitan. The Rangers have won 13 of their last 14, but have not been able to catch up with the division-leading Islanders. In the previous meeting between the two, the Islanders defeated the Rangers 6-3.

Despite the stellar play of both the Rangers and Islanders this season, only one player was selected for each team for the upcoming NHL All-Star Game. John Tavares was selected to represent the Islanders, while Rick Nash was selected from the Rangers.
