Tom Delonge Leaves Blink-182, Band Will Play MusInk Festival in March

January 26, 2015

According to reports from KROQ,  Tom Delonge has left Blink-182. The longtime vocalist and guitar player is a founding member of the San Diego-based band that began in 1992. The news comes in the wake of Blink-182’s announcement of their intentions to play this year’s MusInk Tattoo Convention and Music Festival in March.

Delonge will leave behind an illustrious legacy as one-third of the group. Blink-182 has sold more than 30 million records worldwide over six studio albums, spawning 23 singles and four consecutive top 10 albums on the US Billboard 200.

Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba will fill in for Delonge at this year’s MusInk Tattoo Convention and Music Festival in Costa Mesa, which will be held over three days from March 20 to 22. The festival was created by Blink-182’s drummer Travis Barker in 2008 and has been running annually since.

According to Barker and bassist Mark Hoppus, Delonge kept delaying studio time for the follow-up to 2012’s Dogs Eating DogsE.P. and the band has yet to record new material. Delonge has spent the bulk of his downtime away from Blink and focused on Angels and Airwaves, who released their latest album Dream Walker last month.

Hoppus and Barker plan to honor all commitments to Blink-182, but no other dates besides this year’s MusInk Festival have been announced.
