January 12, 2015

NHL: New York Islanders at New York Rangers

As the All-Star break quickly approaches, this week’s top-priced NHL games will feature several playoff-caliber teams, including the New York Islanders, Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburgh Penguins. The Rangers will host the next chapter of the Battle of New York against the Islanders on Tuesday, which serves as the most expensive game on the secondary market this week. They then travel to Pittsburgh on Sunday to round off this week’s highest-priced games. Below are the week’s most expensive games:

(Tickets for all of these games can be purchased at the bottom of this post)

1/13 - New York Islanders at New York Rangers | Avg. Price: $497.40 | Get-in: $163

After posting a Metropolitan division-best record of 28-13-1, the Islanders travel west off of Long Island and into the big city for a game against the Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. The average secondary price for Rangers vs Islanders tickets is $497.40 and get-in price starts at $163 on the secondary market. The Rangers own third-place honors in the Metro and will look to thin the Isles lead atop the division when they meet in Midtown Manhattan this week.

1/16 - Winnipeg Jets at Chicago Blackhawks | Avg. Price: $350.15 | Get-in: $111

The Blackhawks host the Jets in this week’s second most expensive game on Friday night. The average secondary price for Blackhawks vs Jets tickets is $350.15. Get-in price starts at $111. Chicago sits two points behind the Predators in the Central, posting a 28-13-2 record through its first 43 games. The Jets trail closely behind at 26-13-3 and will look to trump the Blackhawks when they travel to Chicago this weekend.

1/17 - New York Islanders at Montreal Canadiens | Avg. Price: $340.48 | Get-in: $159

The Islanders will again play a top-priced game on the road this week when they head to the Bell Centre in Montreal on Saturday night. The average price for Canadiens vs Islanders tickets is $340.48 and get-in price is listed at $159. Much like the Isles, the Montreal Canadiens have also had a monster first half, sitting at 26-12-3 and just three points behind the Atlantic-leading Lightning.

1/18 - Dallas Stars at Chicago Blackhawks | Avg. Price: $340.15 | Get-in: $145

The Stars travel to Chicago on Sunday, where they take on the Blackhawks at the United Center in the fourth most expensive game of the week. The average price for Blackhawks vs Stars tickets is $340.15 and get-in price is $145 on the secondary market. While most of this week’s top games feature the NHL’s best teams, the Stars have struggled over the first half and own an 18-16-7 record. However, it is the third of four straight home games the Blackhawks will play before going on a six-game road trip at the end of January.

1/18 - New York Rangers at Pittsburgh Penguins | Avg. Price: $251.63 | Get-in: $95

Rounding off this week’s top-priced games is a matchup between the Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins at the Consol Energy Center on Sunday. Making a bid atop the Metro with the Islanders, the Penguins have been able to fend off the Rangers and remain in second place, though a home loss this weekend may prove costly for their positioning in the division. The average secondary price for Penguins vs Rangers tickets is $251.63 and get-in price starts at $95.
