Breaking Down The 2015 Michigan State Football Schedule
February 10, 2015
Despite losing several top players to the NFL Draft, the 2014 Michigan State Spartans still found ways to win ten games. Quarterback Connor Cook took another step forward by throwing for 2,900 yards and 22 touchdowns while running back Jeremy Langford ran for 1,522 yards and 22 touchdowns. Michigan State has played well against its Big-10 foes, but has not been able to get over the hump against national powers. Michigan State lost its two toughest games of the season to Oregon and Ohio State. Many commended Michigan State for traveling to Eugene to face Oregon, but Michigan State was out-classed during the second half. Ohio State proved once again that they are the class of the Big 10 by defeating Michigan State, 49-37. Michigan State finished its season on a high-note by defeating Baylor, 42-41 in a thrilling Cotton Bowl. Michigan State scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to pull-off the thrilling comeback.
Entering the 2015 season, Michigan State will need to find replacements for Langford and leading wide receiver Tony Lippett. Lippett, who caught 60 passes for 1,124 yards, and 11 touchdowns, will be sorely missed. Cook will return for his senior season and is one of the top quarterbacks in college football. Michigan State’s head coach, Mark Dantonio, has proven to be one of the best coaches in college football. Michigan State is the only program to win a BCS Bowl game and New Year’s Six Bowl over the last two seasons. Michigan State never has top recruiting classes, so credit Dantonio and his staff for coaching up its players. Michigan State will have to travel to Michigan and Ohio State this season and given the high expectations surrounding both teams, both games are expected to be highly competitive. A home tilt against Oregon will also be must-watch.
The current average price for Michigan State football tickets on the secondary market is $127.74. The most expensive home game will be on September 12 against the Oregon Ducks. The game has an average price of $313.29 and a get-in price of $168.
