Brooklyn Residents Get Exclusive Access to 2015-16 Islanders Season Tickets
February 9, 2015
If natives of Brooklyn haven’t been familiarized with the incoming New York Islanders just yet, today could be the day. The Islanders have plans to move to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center permanently in the 2015-16 NHL Season, and for one day only, the borough’s residents will have exclusive access to season tickets at the Barclays box office today through 6pm.

It’s a move that will likely kick up some dust in downtown Brooklyn. With the Islanders surging and leading the way in the Metropolitan division this season, Brooklyn will welcome a winning team with open arms when the team officially relocates from Long Island next season. The Nets have done little to attract fans after posting a 21-29 record over the first half of the season, so a new-look and youthful Islanders team may give fans a new reason to cheer come October.
Brooklyn residents who head to the Barclays Center today will have the first opportunity to grab season tickets before they are released to the general public. Islanders tickets are expected to be in considerable demand next season, especially if the team makes a deep playoff push this spring.
The 2015-16 season may be a small speck on the radar, but Brooklyn will have yet another professional sports franchise settling down in the near future. The 15,795-seat venue will welcome the Islanders next October, and Brooklyn natives will have the first stab at scooping up tickets today through 6pm.
