Rock In Rio Brazil Announces First Group of Performers

Rock In Rio Brazil is back this summer and has announced its first batch of headlining and supporting acts. Queens of the Stone Age, Faith No More and System of a Down highlight the festival’s initial press release.

Rock in Rio is considered the world’s biggest music festival and has boasted crowds of nearly 1 million in past editions. The seven-day concert takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil onSeptember 18-20 and 24-27. The festival will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year and its initial group of artists certainly packs a punch.

Alongside the three top-billed bands, Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper and a-ha will play in Brazil this September. Beloved Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry’s new band, The Hollywood Vampires, is also slated to perform. Katy Perry, Slipknot and John Legend round off the first batch of artists announced.

Las Vegas will also host the first-ever North American Rock in Rio, which will be held for two weekends in May. No Doubt, Deftones, Metallica, Taylor Swift, John Legend and Sam Smith have all been announced thus far.
