Major League Soccer is getting ready to kick off its 20th season. With a new labor deal agreed upon, the MLS season is expected to be one of the most successful in the league’s existence. With the season set to kick off this weekend, there will be some highly demanded tickets for the opening matches. The weekend will start with the defending champions, but two new clubs will be the biggest draws. Below are the five most expensive MLS games of the weekend on the secondary market.
Orlando City SC vs New York City FC
Both Orlando City SC and NYCFC are expansion teams for the 2015. That fact has made tickets for this match easily the most expensive of the weekend. A crowd of over 60,000 is expected to fill the Florida Citrus Bowl on Sunday. NYCFC vs Orlando City SC tickets have an average price of $111.25 with a get-in price of $45.
Seattle Sounders FC vs New England Revolution
It won’t be the Super Bowl, but the same cities will be represented. Like the Seahawks, the Sounders tend to draw big crowds at CenturyLink Field. Both of these clubs made deep playoff runs in 2014 and will look to get back to that spot again in 2015. The average price for Revolution vs Sounders tickets is $64.99 with a get-in price of $31.
Vancouver White Caps vs Toronto FC
Last season Vancouver was able to sneak into the playoffs as the fifth seed in the Western Conference, but lost to Dallas in the first round. Toronto missed out on the playoffs, finishing just seventh in the East. Both clubs will look to better their 2014 standing when they start the year at BC Place Stadium. The average price for Toronto FC vs Vancouver White Caps tickets on Saturday is $58.47 with a get-in price of $33.
LA Galaxy vs Chicago Fire
The MLS season starts on Friday night when the LA Galaxy host the Chicago Fire. The Galaxy won the MLS Cup after finishing as the No. 2 seed behind the Sounders in 2014, while Chicago finished ninth in the Eastern Conference with 36 points. Fire vs Galaxy tickets for opening night have an average price of $49.
Sporting Kansas City vs New York New Bulls
Sporting Kansas City and the Red Bulls finished as the No. 4 and No 5 seeds in the Eastern Conference last season. New York finished just a point above Sporting KC in the standings. The two Eastern Conference clubs will start their season on Sunday with an average price of $48 and a get-in price of $23.
