2015 Dodgers Opening Day Tickets Up 57% Since December
April 3, 2015
The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to be one of the best teams in baseball during the 2015 season. Anchored by Clayton Kershaw in the rotation and Yasiel Puig in the heart of the order, the Dodgers are the favorites to win the National League West. One of Los Angeles’ challengers will be the San Diego Padres, who will be the Opening Day opponent at Dodger Stadium.
San Diego overhauled their roster in the offseason and that has led to continued to boost prices for Opening Day Dodgers tickets on secondary market. The current average price for Dodgers vs Padres tickets is $301.32, up 56.7% from December. The get-in price has also increased significantly in that time, now at $116 from $62.
The 2015 Los Angeles Dodgers have completely overhauled their roster after a disappointing showing in the NLDS. Ace Clayton Kershaw lost two games to the St. Louis Cardinals while Los Angeles’s offense failed to generate much offense against St. Louis’s starters. Los Angeles did not re-sign shortstop Hanley Ramirez and instead opted to trade for Jimmy Rollins as a cheaper short-term replacement. While Rollins isn’t the dynamic player that he used to be, his hardworking demeanor will be welcomed and even at his age, his defense will be superior to Ramirez’s at the position. Los Angeles also opted to trade outfielder Matt Kemp, along with $32 million, to the San Diego Padres. Kemp had an inconsistent, injury-riddled career as a member of the Dodgers. Trading him within the division indicates that Los Angeles does not fear him. Los Angeles also signed pitcher Brandon McCarthy away from the New York Yankees. McCarthy, who signed a four-year, $48 million deal, will fit nicely in the back of the rotation. Los Angeles had a disappointing ending to its 2014 season, but tickets are still in high-demand.
