Yankees vs Mets Tickets Up 29% For Games at Yankee Stadium

(UPDATE 4/23/15) With a day until the Mets and Yankees square off for a series at Yankee Stadium, prices on the secondary market are starting to rise. Yankees vs Mets tickets in the Bronx are $153.36 on the secondary market, up 29% from the start of the season.

Much of that price is brought from Saturday afternoon’s matchup will see a pitching duel between CC Sabathia and Matt Harvey. The average price for Saturday’s game is $211.63, 38% above the series average, with a get-in price of $81. The other games in the series do not come close to that price. Friday night’s game has an average price of $149.38 and get-in price of $52 for a pitching matchup of Michael Pineda against Jacob deGrom. Sunday night will bring the least expensive game of the series with an average price of $124.82 with a get-in price of $30.

Prices are still significantly more expensive at Citi Field when these two teams meet again in September. The three game series in Queens is $260.15.

For the first time in years, the Mets boast a competitive roster that will likely be in playoff contention. The Yankees also have a playoff-caliber roster, but haven’t made the playoffs since 2012. Tensions always run high between these fan bases, especially when the rosters are evenly matched. Fans always come out in full force for these six games, so these games boast high ticket prices on the secondary ticket market.

There will be 6 games played between the Yankees and Mets during the 2015 season. With three games scheduled at Citi Field, the average price for Yankees vs. Mets tickets is $270.15, which is 158% higher than the Mets overall average home ticket price of $104.47. With three games scheduled at Yankee Stadium earlier in the season, the average Yankees vs. Mets ticket price will be $119.01 which 17.3% more expensive than the Yankees overall average home ticket price of $101.43.

The highest-priced game between these two teams will occur at Citi Field on September 19th. That game currently owns an average ticket price of $276.70 while the get-in price is $59. The second highest-priced game will be held at Yankee Stadium on April 25th. That game currently owns an average ticket price of $137.14 while the get-in price is $41.

Despite losing Matt Harvey last season, the Mets won 79 games. With Harvey back in the fold, fans are hoping the Mets can return to the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade. The Yankees won 84 games last season, but failed to make the playoffs. Both fan bases are very passionate, so expect hotly contested games between these two teams in April and September.
