Farm Aid is turning 30 this year, and the long-running music festival will celebrate its milestone onSeptember 19 at First Merit Bank Pavilion in downtown Chicago. Headliners at this year’s festival include board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews alongside Jack Johnson, Kacey Musgraves, Old Crow Medicine Show and Imagine Dragons.
2015 marks the first time the festival will take up residency in Chicago since 1997, when it rocked the Tweeter Center in Tinley Park. The festival has been a staple in the country and folk community dating back to its inaugural year in 1985. It was created with the intent to help farmers in need during the Farm Crisis that year. Since then eaters, advocates and activists have allowed it to flourish into a successful annual concert.
The festival has raised more than $48 million for farmers across the country since its inception 30 years ago. Mavis Staples, Holly Williams, Luke Nelson, Promise of the Real, Insects vs. Robots and Blackwood Quartet are also set to perform at this year’s installment in downtown Chicago.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Monday, August 3 via FarmAid.org. Price ranges from $49.50-$189.50.
