Cirque du Soleil Paramour Set For Broadway In Spring 2016
October 23, 2015
Attention circus fans both big and small: Cirque du Soleil, the most intricate and expansive circus company in the world is coming to Broadway this spring, with the hopes of bringing a “long-running production that combines musical theater and acrobatics” to the Great White Way.
The company’s newest production of Paramour, will be held at the Lyric Theatre starting this spring. Tickets have officially gone on sale as of Thursday morning, and prices will rise on the secondary market as the show nears opening night.
Cirque du Soleil’s Paramour begins its likely jaw-dropping previews on April 16, 2016, and will officially have its Broadway opening on June 2 of next year. It must be noted that this show is categorized as a unique event and is not eligible for the 70th Annual Tony Awards, since most unique events are not eligible to compete for a Tony Award.
According to Broadway.com’s ticket sale announcement, the production is set in the Golden Age of Hollywood and will tell the tale of a beautiful young poet forced to choose between love and art. This production will be the latest Broadway Cirque du Soleil show, however with past versions of the company flopping on Broadway, only time will tell if this one will have the same fate.
Some Cirque du Soleil Paramour tickets have hit the secondary market and the overall average across the show's expected run is $167.98. The first preview on April 16 has an average of $183.47
