Paul Simon Announces North American Summer Tour; Tickets Available Soon
February 23, 2016
This May, the legendary Paul Simon will embark on one the biggest summer tours of 2016. This week the 74-year-old musician announced an extensive North American jaunt that is scheduled to begin on May 3 following his festival appearance at Jazz Fest in late April.
The tour will be in support of a new record, Stranger to Stranger, which is set to be released this spring and marks Simon's first release since his 2011 effort, So Beautiful or So What. The upcoming tour is scheduled to hit top venues across the U.S., including Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, and the singer’s hometown of Forest Hills, New York, where he’ll play the historic Forest Hills Tennis Stadium for the first time in 40 years on June 30.
Simon last played Forest Hills Stadium in July 1970 for Simon and Garfunkel's tour supporting their Grammy Award-winning album, Bridge Over Troubled Water. The venue, which first opened in 1923, was shut down for repairs and reopened in 2013. Coincidentally, the venue’s location is just blocks from where Paul Simon grew up.
Tickets for Paul Simon will be on sale soon, and fans can expect to see high demand across all performances. The last time Simon played venues in the U.S. was in 2014 when he joined forces with Sting. Tickets for that tour averaged $240, with the highest price point in New York City’s Madison Square Garden, where tickets averaged $372, with the cheapest ticket priced at $67.
