Each week, selected members from the TicketIQ staff will bring their thoughts on the tickets, events, or on-sales they’re most excited for during the week. The events and descriptions will range widely each week. Here are the picks of top tickets for the week of March 14.
Tim Dolan, Lead Writer - New York Knicks at Golden State Warriors
To say the New York Knicks have underperformed this season would be an understatement, but that hasn’t kept me from tuning in to watch them play every other night. I’ll admit that it’s been tough to support a team whose main storylines have been Derek Fisher’s off-the-court controversy and Carmelo Anthony’s constant bickering, but there’s hope yet in the Big Apple, even if that means enduring a few more 20-win seasons.
Mix my eternal optimism with Wednesday night’s matchup against the Golden State Warriors and you have a recipe for appointment television. I’ve stayed up way too late on way too many occasions this season to watch the Warriors on West Coast time, and Wednesday’s game will be the latest reason why I’m hitting the snooze button the next morning.
No matter, though - with the Knicks in town against Steph Curry and Co., all the more reason to burn the midnight oil.
Emma Gaedeke, Lead Music Writer- Heart & Joan Jett and The Blackhearts at SaskTel Centre
I'm not sure there's a more badass 57-year-old woman in the music industry right now than Joan Jett. For that reason alone, her co-headlining jaunt with Heart is easily my top pick for this week. The two seminal rock acts have just two dates left on their Queens of Sheba tour before they embark on a larger spring and summer run this May, and on March 16 they'll make a stop at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatchewan, Canada. The Queen of Rock 'n Roll will be supported by her band, The Blackhearts, and is likely to play a slew of her biggest hits including "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" and "Bad Reputation." The last time I saw Joan live was in 2013 on an outdoor stage at Chicago's Riot Fest, and I was truly blown away by how little she's aged, and how amazing she still sounds. Tickets for tomorrow's show are averaging just over $100, with the cheapest ticket priced at $95.

There’s a number of bands for each of us that would bring us back to our high school days. They’re bands we’ll go see way after either they peaked musically or we peaked in interested. For me about a quarter of those bands are joining together for the 2016 Taste of Chaos Tour. This summer Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday and The Early November will be hitting the road together through the US, with some special guests across in select cities.
Those special guests, though, are pretty great too. For the show at PNC Bank Arts Center in New Jersey, Saves The Day is going to be on the card. The Starting Line joins for a show two days later in Philly and Motion City Soundtrack will join during their farewell tour at Jones Beach.
Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday morning, at 10am local time. Many of the shows will be played at amphitheatres, which leaves affordable lawn tickets for those who wouldn’t mind spending a few summer hours approved by their 14-year-old selves.
