2016 Triple Crown Tickets Buying Guide: Looking At Kentucky Derby, Preakness & Belmont Stakes Prices

American Pharoah ended a 37-year drought when he won the Triple Crown in 2015, becoming just the 12th thoroughbred in history to win the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes in succession. Attention now shifts to the likes of Nyquist, Mohaymen and Mor Spirit in their quest to do what American Pharoah did just one year ago, but how much will hopeful event-goers be paying to be on hand as they pursue history in 2016?

With thoroughbred racing’s biggest prize on the line at the Kentucky Derby (May 7), Preakness Stakes (May 21) and Belmont Stakes (June 11), TicketIQ and priceline.com have teamed up to break down just how much Triple Crown tickets and travel arrangements will cost.

“This may be the year to see a Triple Crown race in person,” said priceline.com’s Travel Analyst Brian Ek. “Kentucky Derby tickets can be found for as little as $83. Average airfares to all three race destinations are down across the board compared to last year. And the hotel rate ranges show there are still several hotels offering very affordable accommodations.”
