'Hamilton' Launches Chicago & Off-Broadway Touring Production to Begin in 2017

If you've been one of the thousands of Broadway lovers who have yet to score tickets to Hamilton on Broadway, you probably won't have to wait much longer. While tickets have been some of the hardest to come by in Broadway history, prices on the resale market have been dropping, and the show, which has packed sold-out performance after sold-out performance since August 2015, has officially arrived Off-Broadway in Chicago at the PrivateBank Theatre at 18 W. Madison St. Additionally, Hamilton will hit the road for a touring production beginning March 2017.

Previews for the show in Chicago began Tuesday, and currently, resale tickets to see Hamilton in Chicago are averaging $687. In New York City, Hamilton tickets in New York City, which are averaging $1,308. The show has dropped significantly in price on the resale market thanks to the departure of Lin Manuel-Miranda as well as a handful of other major names from the production. For most shows in New York City, the cheapest resale tickets begin in the $400-600 range.

The touring production will hit cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., as well as a West End production starting in October of 2017. Other cities will include Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Cleveland, Costa Mesa, Denver, Des Moines, Houston, Las Vegas, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Seattle, St. Louis and Tempe.

The award-winning musical has taken home 11 Tony Awards, a Grammy, a Pulitzer, and was the first musical to reach No. 1 on Billboard's rap chart. The production has seen the most expensive Broadway resale tickets that the secondary market has ever tracked, well-surpassing powerhouses like Wicked, The Lion King, The Book of Mormon, and others.
