2016 MLS Cup Tickets: Toronto FC Hosts Seattle Sounders In Priciest Final Since 2011

(UPDATE 12/9/16) The stage is officially set for the 2016 MLS Cup final. History will be made as Toronto FC and the Seattle Sounders each search for their first MLS Cup title in franchise history, and fans will be paying record prices to be on hand at BMO Field this Saturday.
On TicketIQ the average resale price for 2016 MLS Cup tickets is now $530.40. That makes it the most expensive MLS final since at least 2011, when the company began tracking MLS resale ticket data. If looking to just get past the gates the cheapest available tickets are currently priced from $224 each in 200 sections of BMO Field.
As the above graphic depicts, this year's final surpasses prices for 2013's match between Real Salt Lake and Sporting Kansas City, which previously owned the most expensive resale ticket prices. Credit the big demand for this year's game to the new territory both clubs find themselves in. While the Sounders have made the MLS Cup Playoffs in each of their eight seasons as a franchise, 2016 marks the only season the club has advanced to the final. This season is just the second time Toronto FC has qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs since forming in 2007, which has undoubtedly impacted prices in Toronto for Saturday's final.
The allure of two countries competing in the final may also be pushing ticket prices sky-high. With Canada being represented in the MLS Cup for the first time in league history, it's unsurprising that this weekend's game is setting record price points. Pool that with the Sounders averaging a league-high 42,000 fans at each home game at CenturyLink Field this season and there is potential for Saturday's match to be the biggest, most talked-about MLS Cup final in league's 23-year history.
2016 MLS Playoff Tickets: Toronto FC Hosts Top-Priced Game of Conference Finals

The Conference Finals will kick off this week, and as the Colorado Rapids, Seattle Sounders, Montreal Impact and Toronto FC each look to put their name in the history books, all four Conference Finals matches are finding big demand on the secondary ticket market.
No match will be more expensive than Toronto FC's home match against the Impact on November. On TicketIQ, the average resale price for Toronto FC Conference Finals tickets against the Impact is now $217, making it the most expensive Conference Finals match tracked since at least 2010. It surpasses a 2015 match between the Portland Timbers and FC Dallas, which previously owned a record-setting average of $142. If looking just to get past the gates at BMO Field next Wednesday the cheapest tickets are listed from $127 each.
For those fans with interest in traveling, it will be considerably cheaper to see the first match between Toronto FC and the Impact at Saputo Stadium on Tuesday. Impact Conference Finals tickets now average $120 and the get-in price is $38.
As for the Rapids and Sounders series, Sounders tickets in Seattle are significantly more expensive than in Colorado. Tuesday's matchup at CenturyLink Field now owns a secondary market average of $128 and the cheapest ticket is listed from $75. The series will then shift to Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Colorado for a match on Sunday, where Rapids Conference Finals tickets on TicketIQ average $79 and the get-in price is now $46.
