Avalanche Say Goodbye to The Joe in This Week's Most Expensive NHL Game

It appears that the playoff streak will be over in Detroit, but that hasn't stopped ticket prices from reaching big demand on the resale market at Joe Louis Arena. The historic venue will officially close for good following the NHL season, and the Red Wings will host a slew of top-priced games over the next month. This week's most expensive game comes against the Avalanche on Saturday. The Rangers, Flames and Penguins also welcome top games at home this week.
Check out the complete price breakdown of this week's top games below, according to TicketIQ:

3/18/2017 Colorado Avalanche @ Detroit Red Wings | Average Resale Price: $254.30 | Get-in Price: $94

Neither the Red Wings nor the Avalanche are playing good hockey recently. In an interesting scheduling decision, the league has them facing off on both Wednesday and Saturday as their only two meetings of the season. Red Wings tickets against the Avalanche currently average $254 and the get-in price is $94, as Detroit hopes to send the game to a shootout and continue its perfect shootout record.

3/17/2017 Florida Panthers @ New York Rangers | Average Resale Price: $245.29 | Get-in Price: $99

The Rangers are without goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who is dealing with lower body injury. However, Rick Nash returned from a one-game absence to help New York win on Sunday, 4-1. Meanwhile, the Panthers head into the week without a win in March. Rangers tickets on TicketIQ currently average $245, and the cheapest available tickets start from $99 each, as the Florida looks for its first regulation victory over New York this season.

3/17/2017 Dallas Stars @ Calgary Flames | Average Resale Price: $152.95 | Get-in Price: $46

The Flames have been playing terrific hockey recently, and they are very popular at home this week. Calgary heads into its four-game homestand on a nine-game winning streak. Flames tickets at Scotiabank Saddledome currently average $153, and the cheapest available tickets start from $46 each. Brian Elliott has stood on his head during the winning streak, but the Stars are looking to move their record to 2-0 against him this season.

3/15/2017 Boston Bruins @ Calgary Flames | Average Resale Price: $151.08 | Get-in Price: $50

In November, the Flames traveled to Boston and defeated the Bruins, 2-1. After Calgary hosts the Penguins, the Flames host the Bruins on Wednesday. In the meeting earlier this season between Calgary and Boston, there was only one goal scored in the first period, but both teams found the net in the final 15 minutes of the contest. Flames tickets on TicketIQ currently average $151, and the cheapest available tickets start from $50 each, as Calgary fans hope to see Alex Chiasson score the game-winning goal against Boston again.

3/17/2017 New Jersey Devils @ Pittsburgh Penguins | Average Resale Price: $143.58 | Get-in Price: $32

The Penguins will unfortunately be without left winger Carl Hagelin for at least a month due a lower body injury, but they hope he will return for the playoffs. However, they will be hosting the struggling Devils on Friday. Penguins tickets at PPG Paints Arena currently average $144 with the $32 get-in price. New Jersey’s last win came February 18, so the Devils will look for their only victory in Pittsburgh this season.
