Prices for Elite Eight Tickets in Kansas City Skyrocket After Kansas Routs Purdue

(UPDATE 3/24/17) The resale ticket market was quick to respond to the Kansas Jayhawks' 98-66 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers on Thursday night. With the Jayhawks moving on to face the Oregon Ducks at Sprint Center on Saturday, fans will now have to dig deep to grab their Elite Eight tickets in Kansas City.

On TicketIQ, the average asking price for Elite Eight tickets at Sprint Center is now $652. That marks a 36 percent jump from the $481 average 24 hours ago. The cheapest tickets are currently listed from $244, up over $100 from the $140 get-in price on Thursday afternoon.

It appears that fans are willing to pay the inflated prices, too, as average sales price following the Jayhawks win has reached $456 per ticket. Tickets have been sold out via the Sprint Center Box Office and Ticketmaster for quite some time, and there's currently just over 1,800 tickets available on resale markets (about 10% of the venue's capacity).

Last year's Kansas-Villanova Elite Eight game at KFC Yum! Center was considerably cheaper than Saturday's contest. With Villanova moving on after defeating Kansas, 64-59, tickets owned an average resale price of $142 with the cheapest listed from just $31.

Previewing Prices for Sweet 16 & Elite Eight Tickets

(ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED 3/21/17) There was no shortage of action and upsets during the first two rounds of the 2017 NCAA Tournament. The East saw defending champion Villanova fall to 8-seed Wisconsin before Duke was ousted by South Carolina in the second round of play. No. 11 Xavier continues on in the West after knocking out Florida State while Michigan kept their storybook run alive in the Midwest over Louisville. The top four seeds remain in the South region, with North Carolina, Kentucky, UCLA and Butler moving on to FedExForum for regional semifinal action beginning Friday.

So, how much will fans have to dish out to attend this week's regional action? TicketIQ breaks down where prices for 2017 NCAA Tournament tickets stand in each region below:

West Region - No. 1 Gonzaga, No. 2 Arizona, No. 4 West Virginia, No. 11 Xavier - SAP Center, San Jose, CA

A controversial call may have been the unfortunate highlight of Saturday's Gonzaga-Northwestern second-round game, but the Zags will have to step their half-court offense up if they hope to take down West Virginia at SAP Center on Thursday. The two teams will meet in the earlier semifinals game and will be followed by Arizona-Xavier in the nightcap. From a serious plane crash to a Sweet 16 bid, it's been a seesaw-like run for Michigan over the last two weeks. The Wolverines move on to face Oregon at Sprint Center in the earlier Midwest semifinal game after knocking out Oklahoma State and Louisville to claim their spot in Kansas City. The nightcap semifinal game will feature Kansas and Purdue. Midwest Regional tickets at Sprint Center currently own a $382 get-in price for All Sessions Passes while ticket to the two semifinal games start at $271 each. Saturday's regional final is now posting a $169 asking price, the most expensive price among all four regional final games.

East Region - No. 3 Baylor, No. 4 Florida,  No. 7 South Carolina, No. 8 Wisconsin - Madison Square Garden, New York, NY

The World's Most Famous Arena will take up hosting duties for the East region between Friday and Sunday. Prices haven't dropped substantially with Villanova and Duke now out of the picture, however, but there are still deals to be had on East Regional tickets at Madison Square Garden. Baylor will face South Carolina in the earlier matchup Friday before Wisconsin and Florida battle. All Sessions Passes in Midtown Manhattan start from $262 while semifinal tickets on Friday are listed from $202 each. Tickets for Sunday's regional finals own a $102 get-in price. The East regional finals will be the cheapest of the four regions.

South Region - No. 1 North Carolina, No. 2 Kentucky, No. 3 UCLA, No. 4 Butler - FedExForum, Memphis, TN

Things have gone according to plan down in the South region, with the top four seeds moving on to the Sweet 16. North Carolina, Kentucky, UCLA and Butler will travel to FedExForum in Memphis for Sweet 16 action beginning Friday. Arguably the most talented pool of teams remaining, South Regional tickets actually own the cheapest All Sessions Passes of tournament starting from $252 each. Semifinal tickets on Friday own a get-in price of $134 while tickets to Sunday's regional finals game is listed from $114 each.
